Convince yourself that you are unhealthy and get started with strength training
Many people convince themselves that they are healthy and keep on pushing days. This post is to motivate them and all those who want to do strength training.
Hey, everyone, I hope that you are reading my articles & I am sure you might have started implementing the principles that I am discussing with you.
Today I want to have a discussion for the people that have not yet been awakened so today’s blog post is for them.
In today’s world everyone thinks that they are fit & don’t need to work out that much, however only the fitness addicts know that they are in the worst situation of the 21st century due to the 9-5 routine, they sit for hours, eat junk, and don’t take any measure to prevent it.
The young and the millennials are stuck in the rut of their 9-5 routine & they start finding excuse such as “I don’t have time to work out or I don’t have the time to prepare my meals & follow an appropriate healthy diet”
The people that have lower body weight think that they are fit as they are in perfect weight range according to their height & think they don’t need to do anything to change their body.
The thing that they don’t understand is their lower back is screwed by sitting for hours every day, their bone density has already started decreasing, they are at risk of having diseases such as diabetes, heart stroke & other lifestyle related diseases.
Their testosterone levels are decreasing every year by 1 % at least, their LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) bad cholesterol is increasing by eating foods made from bad vegetable oils that are higher in omega 6 content, chances of fracture is increasing & the list of these kinds of issues that one start’s facing if he/she doesn’t start working out.
Now you might be thinking that ok then you will start walking or jogging every day for 15 minutes, however, if you start doing that then I need to save you from the trouble that you will be going through if you don’t follow my instructions.
Walking or jogging are just cardio exercises & they help you lose weight but the maximum weight that you lose is not fat but muscle.
Yes, you heard me right, doing long duration cardio will help you lose muscle and not fat!!
This is the sole reason that when you lose weight through jogging & walking you don’t look good as you develop “skinny fat”.
Skinny fat is a situation of the body where you are in a perfect weight range but you don’t have a substantial amount of muscle.
This means that you don’t have muscle mass that supports your bones but have visceral fat that is like a lump.
Also why I don’t recommend jogging or walking as a good cardio as well as workout for building muscle because you don’t lose fat but lose muscle, your cortisol levels start increasing, you don’t burn as many calories while jogging, you don’t feel energetic throughout the day, you feel less confident, you don’t have the focus you need & much more.
While you might be thinking that why am I getting so pessimistic about this long duration cardio thing, I just want opposite things to happen to you.
I want you to build muscle, I want you to feel focused & energetic throughout the day, I want your testosterone levels to be at peak, I want you to have high bone density so that you don’t face any injury & I want your heart to be very strong and fit.
And how can you have all these things?
Simple, you just need to firstly admit to yourself that you are fat even if you are in the lower weight range. Secondly, you need to leave the thought of getting fit through walking and jogging.
Now after getting both the things checked you need to take a membership at a gym that has all the strength training tools to get you started.
But here is another big problem that people face,i.e they go to the gym but start following a body building routine to build muscle which is a wrong approach while starting out.
You need to start following a strength training routine.
My sole purpose of writing this article is to direct you to workout for gaining muscle that is full of strength and not water.
The reason’s to workout for strength are:
- Strength training helps you reduce visceral fat from your body:
if yo do strength training studies have proved that after working out your body burns calories for up to 48 hrs after your workout is over.This is a concept of EPOC that is discussed in the previous articles. This concept takes into account to repairing your muscles that consume a lot of calories to grow& combined with a calorie deficit you lose fat.
- Strength training helps you increase bone density:
When you lift heavy weights your muscles go through micro tears & also your bones go under stress. When you get nutrients through your diet your bone density increases by a collection of collagen protein on your stressed area of the bone, in this case, your whole body goes under stress which increases the areas on which stress accumulates, in turn, increasing the bone density of your whole body.
- Strength training helps you build lean muscle:
Strength training helps build lean, thick & dense muscle. Before this, I was telling about body building routine as not a fit for anyone because it just increases the size of type 2 muscle fibers which don’t support the skeleton while strength training builds type 1 muscle fibers that are connected to your bone building a strong rigid structure.
- Strength training helps you prevent diseases:
Doing strength training prevent autoimmune related as well as lifestyle-related illness such as diabetes, heart diseases and much more. Your body starts to develop immune to any harmful microbial activity that is fatal to your muscles, bones, few cells & organs.
- Strength training increases testosterone levels:
Strength training is the best way to increase your T- levels as you build more muscle by lifting heavy weights that in turn provide strong muscles & bones & this can be done only by your body releasing more and more testosterone in your blood stream.
These are just a few of the benefits of doing strength training instead of doing long duration cardio.
So if you want to get healthy you need to focus on gaining lean muscle mass rather than focusing on losing weight.
Evenif you are fat , doing strength training will help you shed fat faster. For normal people that have jobs if you follow strength training programs you will fix your muscle imbalances & your risk of getting any injury will be very less.
Your energy, confidence, endurance, power, strength will increase which will make your life more productive. Also, you will have less medical issues which will suck all your money that you could have used for your family vacations into the hospital.
This is only one part of your routine to get fit. You also need to focus on your nutrition part too that will help you grow your body. Neglecting it will only make things worse. I have written articles on the nutrition basic principles & how can you choose a diet that you can follow easily.
Another factor that helps you to reduce fat is sleep. You need a good 7-8hrs of sleep to let your body heal from all the physical activity. Sleep is another important factor that people screw up.Your body heals in your sleep & the testosterone only peaks when you are in a deep sleep.
These are most but few important things that I thought you need to be paying attention to. I hope I have shifted your mind from doing half-hearted simple cardio routines to the strength training routine & great nutrition which will help you to live the life you want.
